Hive Medias Calgary location aims to create an environment which nourishes its employees and allows them to thrive. People will be ale to communicate, collaborate and unite within the space. The design will be cohesive and innovative with the way that it is laid out. It will also reflect the morals of the company through biophilic design elements. Materials such as wood and stone paired with an earthy color palette will create a visual connection with nature. A dynamic use of light will also work to enhance the look of this modern-day office. Texture and line will be used within ceiling accents and creative space separators in order to create a more unique and interesting feel to the interior. Overall, the original structure and details of the building will be transformed into a charming yet contemporary boutique style office space. As you can tell from the images displayed, the purpose of this area is to provide the people who inhabit it with a versatile location where one can work, socialize and relax within the same building.
Hive Media was born in Vancouver BC by three women who grew up in the Squamish Valley area. These women were raised with a deep respect for nature and have always incorporated this love into their day to day lives. After moving to Vancouver in order to study multi-media and marketing, they realized a passion for supporting eco-friendly and small businesses who share the same morals that they do.
This is where the idea for Hive Media derived from. They wanted to create a business which provides other companies with a way to market their brands easily and effectively. The women behind Hive view multimedia advertising as not only a way to promote interesting and original businesses to their community, but also as a way of helping others succeed.
Hive hopes to continue growing their company by branching out of BC and starting up offices within other provinces in Canada; beginning with Alberta. They desire to carry on with their successes by providing fun, informational and socially conscious advertising to the communities surrounding them. Hive values teamwork, creativity, and innovation. They hope that their Calgary headquarters will embody these morals as well.

Materials
The design of this office space took inspiration from nature and was meant to provide its users with a comfortable space to work in. The floorplan has a clear path of circulation and includes a variety of private and open work spaces. Some areas which have been included in this space include a reception area, small and large meeting room, two executive offices, a print/copy room, and a staff area which includes a kitchen. Some common materials would be concrete, wood and black accents.
These elevations give the viewer a better idea of how natural the space feels. The colour scheme obviously displays organic hues and greenery has been included in each space. The original brick has been painted white in order to keep the natural history in the space while brightening it up. Overall these elevations display the functional and simple design well.
This perspective is a hand rendering of the large meeting room. As said above, a wood slat ceiling detail draws the users eye to the front of the room. Built in millwork has been included for storage, and multi coloured chairs make the space feel more fun and encourages a collaborative environment.
The ceiling for this office space displays simple yet interesting details. The majority of the space has Tbar ceiling to help with acoustics and to save cost. In addition to this, wood slat accents have been added in the large and small meeting rooms in order to draw ones eyes to the front of the room where the presenter/screen would be. Simple light fixtures allow for easy visibility for work. In the staff break room the ceiling has been dropped in the same way that the flooring detail has changed in order to make the space still feel separated from circulation paths despite being open. Natural light was used to the designs advantage to allow a visual connection with nature while brightening the space.
This perspective shows a hand rendering of what the open work space will feel like. Although the space is completely open, each staff member has a private desk where they are able to get their work done comfortably. A lot of wood has been used in this area as well as green accents.
This perspective is a hand rendering of one of the executive offices. An abundance of natural light is brought in through the large windows, and custom millwork adds a lot of storage into the room without making it feel cluttered.
This perspective is a hand rendering which displays the staff area. Lots of seating has been included in order to allow for employees to relax on their break. A kitchen is included for convenience while the different floor and ceiling makes it feel separate from other areas in the building.
